MyGurlStuff.com June 5, 2006 - Jacquee was fortunate to land an email interview with Nicole Livas, co-anchor of WAVY 10 news at 5 and 5:30pm and FOX 43 news at 10pm. MyGurlStuff will be awarding Nicole with a "U Go Gurl Award" because she is an excellent role model for Tween and Teen girls.

Nicole is a native of Virginia Beach and graduated from Kempsville High School. A fun fact we learned from Nicole's biography on WAVY 10's web site: "Nicole's happier stories include the New York City auditions for "American Idol, Season 2", the filming of the TV show "Providence". She loves to go up in Chopper 10 to cover "Friday Night Flights" during high school football season."

Here's what Nicole shared with Jacquee during the interview:

Jacquee: What college or university did you attend?

Nicole: George Mason University (go men's basketball team- final 4!)

Jacquee: What degree did you get?

Nicole: BA Speech Communication & Spanish

Jacquee: What inspired you to become a News Anchor for WAVY 10/FOX 43?

Nicole: My mother was a local newscaster/talk show host in the 70's and 80's. She was my first TV inspiration.

Jacquee: Was it hard to get into this field?

Nicole: This field is very competitive. It took me 8 months to find my first on-air job after college. Now it's even more difficult.

Jacquee: What motivated you to move to the Hampton Roads area?

Nicole: I'm a native of Virginia Beach, so taking the job here was a homecoming for me after working at TV stations in Ohio and Rhode Island for 10 years. My grandmother was elderly and I wanted to get closer to her and the rest of my family.

Jacquee: What is your favorite sport?

Nicole: Basketball (to watch) and studio cycling/spinning (to participate)

Jacquee: What is your favorite food?

Nicole: Seafood

Jacquee: When you were a teenager, what was your most favorite job?

Nicole: I can't say I had a favorite job as a teenager. My first job was at 'Chick-Fil-A' at Lynnhaven Mall.

Jacquee: Who is a famous person that you would like to meet?

Nicole: Oprah & Prince

Jacquee: Would you be nervous meeting them?

Nicole: Yes, I'd be nervous but I'd try not to show it.

Jacquee: If you had a fear of speaking public, how did you get over your fear?

Nicole: I never had a fear of speaking in public.

Jacquee: What is your favorite charity?

Nicole: Special Olympics, 'Big Brothers/Big Sisters' and the Boys Choir of Hampton Roads

Jacquee: What is your most favorite hangout in the Hampton Roads area?

Nicole: I like the restaurants on Granby Street in Norfolk.

Jacquee: Do you have any advice for the Tween and Teen girls?

Nicole: Tween and teen girls should listen to their elders... take life slowly. Don't rush into relationships with boys. The guys you think you like now you probably will look back 20 years and say 'I liked him?'. Keep your dignity. Don't allow a reputation to tarnish your image. Stay positive. Be blessed.
